Coordinates all recycling programs at Arcado. Plans activities and celebrations for America Recycles Day, Georgia Arbor Day, Earth Day, and Arcado Beautification Day. Sponsors Outdoor Classroom and the 4th-grade Green Team as well as school wide environmental education programs.
May 15, 2014 - Congratulations Arcado Elementary School for being recognized by the Gwinnett County Board of Education for being a 2014 Green Ribbon Schools Sustainability Awardee. Arcado was one of 2 schools in our great State of Georgia to be awarded this distinction, and the only public school. Receiving the award, were Principal, Penny Palmer Young and Teacher Volunteer, Christy Chadwick Bridges. We are so proud of Arcado!
Friday, May 9, 2014, the entire student body of Arcado Elementary School was recognized for their tremendous efforts toward making our Environment Green. As one of only two schools in Georga to be a 2014 Green Ribbon Schools Sustainability Awardee, Arcado Elementary and High Meadows will split $10,000 in award prize money from the Captain Planet Foundation and Turner Foundation, for demonstrating energy efficiency efforts. There were only 48 schools awarded nationwide for this very impressive distinction.
